On May 28 the Obama administration chose the Puget Sound area to receive manufacturing growth help.
The Obama administration included Puget Sound as one of the areas listed in their federal effort to spur manufacturing job growth across the nation.
The Puget Sound area and 11 others across the nation were designated as manufacturing regions by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker on May 28. More than 70 applicants were applying for the status.
The designation essentially means those areas will receive “strategic assistance” from federal agencies and preferential status for two years on applications for federal grants, worth $1.3 billion collectively. Read the full article written By Christopher Andersson here.
